Father's Day Spending Online

Some interesting facts have come across my desk about what we can expect of consumer’s Father’s Day Spending this year. A common theme in my blogs has been looking at how people have been become less reluctant to look online for deals on goods. One place where it’s easy to monitor consumer trends are occasions where spending traditionally peaks and traditional spending peaks predictably take place around holidays. So in this blog we’ll take a look at what to expect from this Father’s Day online shopping.

According to the eBillme Online Spending Index, 21% of Total respondents answered ‘Yes’ when asked if they plan to shop online for a gift this Father’s Day: a significant number when compared to the overall spending which has reached $9.4 billion certain years.

However, a consumer spending survey conducted by the LA Times “found that U.S. consumers are expected to spend an average of $90.89 on gifts for fathers this year” these finding are down 4% from the $94.54 spent in 2008. Overall, people are expecting to spend less this year.

Despite the overall trend, there is an exception to every rule: namely, the percentage of people polled who said that they intended to spend more this year. 10% of Total respondents said ‘Yes’ when asked if compared to last year, they planned to spend more on gifts for Father’s Day 2010. In order to attract business merchants are going to have to try hard to attract these customers.

If you happen to be one of these merchants, one such way can be to offer online cash payment for your services, a debt free alternative to paying with credit cards may entice shoppers who are on the fence!
