
A woman working at a hair salon in Waukegan, Illinois, was convicted of stealing customer's credit cards to make
fraud.ulent purchases. According to the Daily Herald, the woman has been given probation and charged a fine as part of her sentence.
Nadia Palacious pleaded guilty to credit card theft during her hearing. Last winter, she stole the credit cards of two customers at the hair salon, then purchased $1,429 worth of gasoline and gift certificates using the stolen cards.
She will pay back the entire amount stolen in restitution fees as well as serve 150 hours of public service, in addition to 18 months probation. She was apprehended when she was caught using the cards by surveillance cameras in local stores.
Though she was originally charged with a felony theft, Judge John Phillips, who presided over the case, agreed to reduce the charge to a misdemeanor because of her guilty plea, the source reports.
