
According to a new report released by the research group ComScore, women participate in more
online shopping. than their male counterparts.
Women
shop online. more than men, and they also shop differently than males. Though they make up less than half of the Internet population, they spend 58 percent of e-commerce currency.
The research also indicates that women shop on the web in a category-specific manner, and that they are most likely to take advantage of the social components of shopping online.
In addition to shopping statistics, ComScore also researched the way women use the internet for other purposes. Women are more likely to use social networking online, and seem to be drawn to community, lifestyle and health websites. Internationally, women spend more time on the web than men.
As women continue to save online buy shopping from home, they must be sure to protect their sensitive information. According to Javelin Strategy and Research, there was a 22 percent increase in identity theft cases in 2008. Some women may choose to use a secure payment service when navigating the web to guard their personal data.
