A new survey conducted by the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association (RAMA) shows that moms are more likely to use social networking websites, such as Facebook and Twitter, than other adults. The study also showed that 15.3 percent of moms run their own blog.
Facebook was the most popular social media site for mothers. While 60.3 percent of moms on the web had a Facebook account, only 42.4 percent had a MySpace account and 16.5 percent had a Twitter account. However, all of these percentages are higher than the amount of average users on these sites.
"Retailers who aren't engaging customers through social media could be missing the boat," said Mike Gattie, Executive Director for RAMA. "Twitter, Facebook and blogs are becoming increasingly popular with moms as they search for coupons or deals and keep in touch with loved ones. The web provides efficient, convenient ways for brands to stay in front of their most loyal shoppers and attract new ones."
