As Americans approach the biggest shopping season of the year, a new report conducted by Forrester Research states that
online shopping. in the U.S. is expected to be higher this year than ever before, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The report, released on Tuesday, estimates that online sales in the months of November and December will increase 16 percent in comparison to last year, and will reach a total of $52 billion dollars. The source reports that shopping at brick-and-mortar stores is only expected to increase by 2.3 percent.
Sucharita Mulpuru, the analyst who led the report, says that much of the increase in
online shopping. is due to web retailers' efforts to convince shoppers to purchase new products online.
"People become evangelized to the channel when they start shopping in a couple of categories," Mulpuru told the news source. "The Web is the place where you can find great deals and better pricing, especially if you are comparison shopping and looking for the best value."
In addition to comparison shopping, those who want to save online should consider using web-based coupons to find good deals, according to The Christian Science Monitor.
