How should I return something I bought online?

line2

According to the shoppers should know their return rights before they make a purchase.  Stores are not legally obliged to accept returns, and some will not accept returns under certain conditions like clearance or sale items.  It’s best never to assume and to ask or research first (or both!).

Just because an online merchant agrees to accept a product return doesn’t mean it’s as simple as putting it back in the mail with a “return to sender” sticker. When it comes to online returns, returning items could involve requesting a special form to fill out and return with the item or requesting a return authorization number so the store can process your return quickly when it gets back to them.

Before tossing the product in the mail for a return, visit your online account at the store where you purchased the product. If you haven’t already done so, you should read up on the company’s return policy. Then, at your online account, you should have the option of completing a label with the quantity, condition, and reason for return. You print the label and attach it to the original packaging of the defective product.

Keep in mind when returning items that you are probably responsible for the return shipping costs. In addition, the online store may not take any responsibility for theft, loss, or damage done to the product while being shipped back to the company.

Having said all of that, many merchants will go out of their way to please the customer if they can.  I’ve had experiences where a merchant has gone above and beyond to ensure I was satisfied, especially if they know I’m a loyal customer.  Try mentioning that you are loyal if that is the case!

Tip: As part of their Buyer Protection program, for eligible purchases, eBillme offers a money-back guarantee if you are dissatisfied for up to 90 days after your transaction. If you become dissatisfied with an eligible purchase, they will accept return of the item and reimburse the purchase price (up to $500 per eligible purchase and $1,000 per twelve-month period). Payment does not include any applicable taxes, storage, shipping, handling, and postage charges.

An eligible purchase may be returned to us for any reason, but it must be returned undamaged, in good working condition, and in its original and complete packaging. You are responsible for all mailing costs.
